I I love the For Dummies Books and the reason that I love them is because they cut through all the crap, to put it bluntly. You can go on Amazon.com and buy these books that are used very cheaply. One of the books that you want to get is How to Build Web Pages for Dummies. Another one is the HTML for Dummies book. (HTML stands for Hyper Text Mark-Up Language which is the language you need to know to build a web page. Like I said before, this is very easy to learn.) Another series of books that are excellent are the Sam's Teach Yourself series of books. Sam's even has a book entitled Sam's Teach Yourself HTML in 10 Minutes. I think the book I used extensively was the Sam's Teach Yourself HTML in 24 Hours! I really used that book a lot. Look, buy one of these books and learn how to do HTML on your own. Push yourself to do things that other people in your business are not willing to do and I can guarantee that you will at least have some new skills that you can market later on.
If you are going to build a web site then you need to know one thing and that is just using HTML to build the web site is going to be a daunting task especially for a beginner. In my opinion you need to know some HTML but you do not need to be an expert in order to have web site. As a matter of fact, there are two pieces of software that you can buy (you only need one of these) will help you build web pages very easily. The two programs and I am referring to is Dreamweaver and FrontPage. Now, Microsoft makes FrontPage and I have not used it very much, so I can only tell you that people to use it and it seems to be a pretty popular program. However, in the world of Web site editing programs, Adobe's Dreamweaver seems to be the industry standard. I have been using Dreamweaver for years and I can tell you it is a very easy program to use to build web sites. However, there is a learning curve to using this program and you will have to educate yourself somewhat. Just as I said before concerning the For Dummies Books and the Sam's books you will need to purchase a book or two on how do use Dreamweaver if you decide to buy it and use it. I would highly recommend this as well, because it will definitely make a web page and web site building much, much easier and a lot more fun. If you are going to hire somebody to build your web pages for you, then you will need to know little bit about hypertext markup language (HTML) in order to tell the person that you are hiring how you like your web site built. So, I want to reiterate the importance of learning a little bit of HTML before proceeding to the next step.
